3.48ct Green/ pink bicolor Oregon Sunstone

This stone would make the most incredible statement ring or pendant. 9.8ct of spectacular bi-color Oregon Sunstone with maroon and deep green, and amazing constellation schiller. The color and the "schiller," which is the word for those flecks of copper you see throughout this stone, are just incredible. This stone is a one-of-a-kind and deserves to be in a high-end jewelry piece. If you have clients who love the unusual, they'll love this gemstone. Oregon Sunstone is the official state gemstone of Oregon and only found in one very rugged and secluded area of Eastern Oregon. Its rarity is because this is the only area in the world to find a naturally occurring copper bearing feldspar material.

This is one of those Oregon Sunstones you only see once in a while. Its depth of color is absolutely breathtaking. The dark green accented with coppery red schiller is mesmerizing. Oregon Sunstone is rare in the world of feldspar in that it contains copper. Most stones will only show a little hint of this copper when they display a little aventurescence, that inner glow seen as it flashes in the sunlight. About 10% of these stones will display any color at all, usually a pinkish peach color. Then there's the 1%rs. Stones like the one you're seeing here that are so rare they must be used to create a custom-made masterpiece. This particular stone is 8.83ct and measures 14.4x11mm. It would make a very impressive cocktail ring or pendant.

Here's a very nice green/pink/gold tri-color Oregon Sunstone dug from the world famous Dust Devil Mine near Plush. These colors are just amazing, and as good as the photos look, the stone is even better when you hold it in your hand. In addition to the gorgeous color of this stone, the cut is exquisite. The concave cuts in the stones pavilion give it an added dimension of sparkle. The stone measures 14x10mm and weighs 4.9ct. It would be perfect in a pendant, ring or brooch.

Oregon Sunstone, the always natural and untreated state gem is a rare feldspar containing copper, which gives it not only a wide range of colors, but also the aventurescent quality called "schiller" from thousands of microscopic bits of copper inside the stone. Usually, these crystals get only as large as 60-70cts before being cut. Often, bigger crystals have fractures, which makes cutting large stones over 10cts difficult. This stone, however, is not the norm. It weighs a massive 22.9ct and measures 23x17mm. It's the largest stone in my inventory. Just being large isn't the only thing that makes this stone special, though. The tri-color green, pink, and gold or "mystique" color is one of the rarest for Oregon Sunstone. Watch the colors shift and move as the stone turns. The concave cutting on this gem also ads to the brilliance, giving it a radient shine. It is truly a one of a kind masterpiece.
