Queen Cleopatra of Egypt was quite fond of them, famously giving Marc Antony half of one of the most famous emeralds, which was lost when he went to battle the Romans. the other half became the cursed Cleopatra emerald, which was found in her tomb. Lovely and surprising pink diaspore from Afghanistan. This relatively new gemstone is physically the same material as the Turkish diaspore, trade named Zultanite but look at this color! In low light it's a mauve or purple, but in bright sunlight is bright pink. This deposit was discovered in 2020 and appears to be very limited. Totally untreated with beautiful tube inclusions throughout. This particular stone is beautifully cut and weighs 2.17ct and measures 10.6x5.6mm. This stone would be ideal in a ring or a pendant.
